I thought it might be useful if we had a thread for us who likes a cheap day out etc so we can give our fellow DFWs bargain days out without costing us much.
The first place i want to reccomend is is the Monkey forest at Trentham (stoke)
http://www.monkey-forest.com/information.php
Myself and my partner went here a few weeks ago and loved it.
It costs £5.50 for an adult and £4.00 for children
If you take yourself a picnic they have a picnic area so it could be a really cheap day out :j
Also if people fancy cheap camping then visit
http://www.nationaltrust.org.uk/main/w-vh/w-holidays/w-camp/w-camp-list.htm
I think some of the campsites are free some start at £1.50 pppn but i am not sure if you HAVE to a member of the national trust. I know camping can be expensive. Last year my partner and myself stayed two nights in a site in st Davids (south wales) and for just two nights cost £36
I will post more up as i think of them

How about a picnic in the park, we went to Frensham Ponds (in Surrey) at the weekend and took a picnic and it was lovely. They've got a lake there with a beach and there were loads of families there and the children were loving playing in the sand and quite a lot of people were swimming in the lake. with the weather so hot it was as if we were abroad!Debts in April 07 = £12,547.61 Debts in Aug 08 = £0I'm debt free! I can recommend Mount Edgecumbe. It is technically in Cornwall (I think!) but you can see it from Plymouth Hoe. The grounds are free and have lovely walks, a beach and a pond with ducks. From the beach you can see Plymouth Hoe across the water (surprise, surprise). You can walk for miles (should you want to) and if you have got some money (not us then) the Orangery restaurant serves food and drinks (I don't work for them honest). You don't even need a car because if you bus it to Cremyll in Plymouth you can get the foot ferry across to it.Finally Debt Free After 34 Years, But Still Need to Live Frugally

wildfowl and wetlands trust for me ~ slimbridge ~ http://www.wwt.org.uk/ it is expensive with gift aid at £7.35 per adult and £4.35 for a child or £20.35 (2 adults & 2 children, 4-16 years) per family, however its a whole day and many of the sites have events and things to do in the school holidays. A duckling day is a must
take a packed lunch and a few £'s for some bags of seed and its a great day out. I arrive at about 9am and stay untill 5pm ish ~ a perfect day out. But no bread for the birds please
