Equifax identity watch REFUND !

I’ve seen lots here for Credit-expert , my issue was with Equifax. Here’s how i claimed money back.

I noticed £2.99 coming out of my account every month.... Further investigation I noticed it was Equifax. I had used this company to check my credit file and then cancelled.

Apparently I "singed up" to something called identity watch. This costs £2.99 per month, they said 1st year free then its £2.99 pm in an email reply I had after my complaint. 10 amounts of £2.99 were taken every month. I presumed this to be for another service.

I wrote to complain listing all the dates the money was taken and how I felt mis-sold this "service"

They replied saying id signed into the agreement on the phone, I had no memory of this. I sent a reply stating I was not happy and they replied again saying that they would not refund.

I contacted the financial ombudsman online and did the form (it was very easy) after a few weeks the ombudsman sent me a letter stating that they have been in contact with Equifax and they will reply with their final outcome within 8 weeks.

Hey presto this weekend I was refunded all of the money ! I wanted to share my story as there may be others in my boat. Get claiming people !

Yep. I just noticed the first payment of this going out and have no memory of being told of any charges. Equifax have initially said no so I've asked them to listen to their call; it's an obvious breach of Treating Customers Fairly for an FCA regulated company. If no luck, FOS it is.
