This was actually a useful discussion as its a product my OH uses but I think I've bought it in Home Bargains as it worked out cheaper than the supermarkets.

I will now have to check how much it actually is in HB compared to supermarket price.

As for Match and More factoring in the more points is only a problem if you don't visit Morrisons very often eg live in Northern Ireland. Otherwise a voucher is very easy to spend, Morrisons is now one of the biggest farmers in the country so £5 is very easily spent on fruit and veg.

Ive been stuck for ages though short of about 40p worth of points to get to my next £5 voucher but OH put petrol in today so I might be a bit closer. I also wombled a receipt with 200 points to be added on so again I am getting a bit closer :j

I do get these occasions where, although there is no good comparison vs elsewhere, buying in M is said to be cheaper if you take into account a "More" points offer there. (I always put the word "More" in quotes as it's their word and I'm therefore using it as a term of art. It means that I am not implying any agreement or disagreement with it by myself - but by avoiding using the word More without the quotes means I'm not automatically accepting that it does give you anything "more". It's a clever word on their part, IMO, that tries to get me to admit that they are giving you more, but, in my use of the quotes, I give no view on whether they are or are not by my avoiding being drawn into this trap.)

Anyway, occasionally, I come across instances where M is already at the same price as elsewhere but, unlike the others, it has a "More" points offer on the item. Assuming the points equate to more than 10% of the cost*, it's therefore potentially better buying in M. Yet these items do not make it to the M list as they are not on half price elsewhere.

But, even with everyone price-matched, and assuming that the item is one that rarely ever goes onto any cheaper prices elsewhere, the "More" points make M cheaper if - important if - the points are accounted for as in effect giving a discount off the M price (same price as everywhere else or equal cheapest shelf price as somewhere else). However, really it's not 'cheaper' as you still always pay the full M price and the points are never given as cash or by crediting one of your bank accounts but instead require you to spend them in M - thus they always end up with the money - and you may never have them if they never amount up to enough so that your points equate to a £5 voucher value. Which requires yet more spending at M to achieve.

On this occasion, I have some Corsodyl mouthwash 300ml at £4.55 (same price as elsewhere or same price as the cheapest elsewhere and no other cheaper prices available elsewhere) in M and 600 "More" points - so, £3.95 with the points. Or, in fact, still alwys £4.55 and 60p in points deferred to be spent(:() in M at some later time, presumably after yet more has been spent at some point in the interim in order to trigger the printing of a £5 voucher - or, certainly, if the 600 points, together with any Match points and any other "More" points that were collected on the same transaction, did not amount to achieving 5000 points amount (and, if they went over that by 600 points or more, then, in effect, the points are not achieved until another 5000 is reached).

However, on this occasion, it seems hopeless as Corsodyl Freshmint Mouthwash 500ml - should you specifically require Corsodyl - is £3.19 straight in M anyway. I think I saw the 300ml with the points offer rather depleted in my store:rotfl::rotfl:. So, with the 200ml more being cheaper anyway than the 300ml, what it does is say to us to shop away from M for the whole lot!:D So that it is better to shop in A for 500ml vs M or, failing that, Avs T is cheaper than M cost on the 500ml Corsodyl (as long as you buy seven more appearing items:( and as long as none of those in A are more than 10% cheaper than T - or, otherwise, you may pay more in A if T is not the cheapest competitor and are therefore taken to have 'overpaid' by losing whatever amount would have been versus the cheapest competitor but offset by the additional cost that buying a further seven items against that other competitor would then cost you in A minus the value of any APG back).

In short:rotfl:, Corsodyl 500ml makes it to the list (as Corsodyl 300ml is more expensive even if the "More" points value was deduced, but then 300ml ones may be something else, I don't know) for those that specifically need Corsodyl - although, until it is known whether or not the 500ml compares vs £3.19 at M, it may be best advised to compare vs T. M comp. not available to Northern Ireland in any event. However, I have heard of cheaper Corsodyl, in effect, being obtained by way of a misprice in A and then £2 GC, so, maybe, best to look out for that;):D. Assuming that to be unavailable, even though the M comp. is risky, I would not buy in M on this occasion as Avs T is cheaper than M (assuming that that is not so recent a price for T as to not yet be in whichever APG system is to be claimed under).

*If they do not, then it's potentially Avs M if it is stocked in A and, if it compares, is probably likely to be more immediate than the points making a £5 voucher.
