Done loads of ironing today, and thought the sofa cushions looked a bit grubby so decided to take them off for a wash.

We bought the sofa in DFS a couple of years ago and have mostly put throws on it of an evening when we're chilling, but not always. There are 4 large cushions on the base with zipped removable covers. I checked the label and it said do not wash, professional dry clean only. I did my usual and ignored the label and shoved them in the washer on a hand wash cycle in cold water.

Me to DH - 'If they shrink, on my head be it'.
DH to me - 'Don't worry, if they don't fit it's bound to me my fault, I usually get the blame :o'

I put them in the tumble dryer for 5 mins to fluff the pile up a bit and stuck them on the line to dry.

They've come up like new and fit the cushions perfectly :T

DH to me 'Thank goodness for that' :rotfl:

I did mine yesterday, I was sat in front of the washer thinking another 5 minutes, they will be ok. Stopped the spin before it went too fast and much to my relief they are ok too:T didn't remove the blue biro mark though:(

Just back from my ex netto ... Magnums rtc in there at £1.75....maybe filtering through. Hopefully give it a week and they will be a bit cheaper;)

Bettys is very nice, but rather cramped and a bit expensive, esp with 2 monkeys, so go in, buy a couple of buns, help yourself to the free samples (elite style), then have an impromptu picnic in Harlow Carr gardens!!

Thanks, is there an entrance fee for the gardens? Never been or heard of it before.
    Thanks

Please can you remind me - AvW - if the W price is "any two save 50%" will it compare?

    A Zip and Seal Food and Freezer Bags Small - 40 - RTC in little A £1, msm £2.56 A v M £1.99 or W £1.99 (Any 2 Save 50%).

Hang on, just realised that will in theory work out cheap anyway, may just chance an 11+ :D

Glad your cushions came out well too :). Hopefully the pen mark will budge next time you wash them.

The Magnums dropped in price, I think it was last week when I posted about the Haagen Dazs, then went to 10p today.

Keep an eye out when you're passing :)

to remove biro marks spray hairspray directly onto the fabric and wash straight away :)
  • Evening all. Just looked in quickly & gotta dash.

Re cramp - bitter lemon has quinine in it - FAR more palatable than tonic water. Irn Bru also has quinine in but not sure how much it has. Bitter lemon is on a par with Tonic water - about 100ml or so should see you right. HTH

I've had night time cramp for years & Bitter Lemon (diet) works well for me. I also usually have some in the car as sometimes I get cramp in lower foot/toes. Not nice when you hit the pedals, or should read when you can't hit the pedals.
