Using a broker and Contact with the lender

Just because we are using a Broker, does that mean we cannot contact the lender direct? Im a little frustrated with our broker as he never seems to have an update for us.

Can I contact the lender direct?

You can, but its not really advisable.

You may give them information inadvertently which is not requested but scuppers your mortgage hopes with them for example.

For example there is a high street lender who does not ask about defaults - they rely on the credit report.

Contacting the Lender direct is a sure fie way to make things worse as ACG says.

Your broker may not have an update simply because the lender is not providing an update.
