Do Sharesave schemes affect mortgage affordability?

I was wondering if anybody had experience of this or if a knowledgeable broker on here could help me with my question. My husband currently has a chunk of his salary going into a sharesave scheme through work every month. We are hoping to apply for a mortgage next year and I was just wondering if sharesave schemes were taken into account for mortgage affordability? Or are they simply treated like savings, in that they can be stopped and the money taken back if needed at any time?
Thanks for your help!
