My daughter bought her Ian Stewart dress on ebay for £800 secondhand but it was as new. Would have cost me £3000 plus. Also our local charity shops have themed selling events at this time of year. Some lovely items.

There are wedding shops on eBay which sell sample dresses or ex displays. Have a browse as you might be able to find one in your size. My mate found one but it was a bit annoying as it wasn't in her size. :D

Depending on whether you think it would be a hassle, you could try ordering wedding dresses custom made from China, aliexpress.com would be a place to start.

My friend went to China herself (and other friends in Hong Kong) to make them and they got measured by the seamstress but if you wanted something really cheap but looking really expensive at the same time, this is one way to go about it. Obviously it's a bit of hit and miss depending on who you bought the dress from.

I bought my wedding dress (very expensive I must add which was not in the MSE spirit) from David's Bridal here which involved them making the dress in USA and shipping it over. I took the jump however with the bridesmaid dresses by buying infinity dresses from Etsy.com with a Chinese seller (who shipped the dress from Hong Kong to UK by DHL which meant it got here in a week!). Those dresses only cost £30 to make but including shipping and tax it worked out roughly £40 per dress, still cheaper than buying them here!

I bought mine for £140 from Preloved. Have you found a dress you liked that you could get altered?

4 months is still time! Why not try buying a dress pattern and making it yourself- it doesn't need to be a conventional wedding dress, does it? Especially if it's a beach wedding (lucky you!). Do you have a sewing machine? If not, can you get a family member to sew the pattern up for you as a wedding gift? That way you can also choose the fabric yourself, and maybe add some lace for good measure :-)
Conventional wedding dresses tend to be very expensive, and quite often (in my opinion) some of them look a little tacky.
    Good luck!

I cannot comment on quality, but there is a Yorkshire based seller on Ebay called BridalEssentials. They will make any dress if you send a photo and seem to charge less than £200 for their dresses. They have really good feedback too.

It sounds like a pale gold colour would work great on you. Don't dismiss a matching skirt and top combination that may work better for your size.

Kitty and Dulcie online is where I found mine! I love it and I think the majority of their dresses are under £400, I'd definitely give it a go!
