Help! Newbie needs advice

Hi everyone

fab boards and great site. BUT not sure how too work everything. How do I get advice on my debts? How do I put my signature on and also what my debts are etc and how do I strike through and put new amounts?

I'm an English Grad Single mum with approx £8500 debt (being quite aggressively chased by some creditors) and no idea where to start, downloaded a payplan SOA, have to say, contrary to others on here I found CCCS absolutely useless!! They kept asking for stuff I'd already sent them, I could never get hold of them - I sent them all my stuff in Jan, have just received it back after telling them a month ago that I no longer wanted to deal with them, when I got my papers back, it was obvious no one had even looked at them!!

So basically ANY advice would be greatly appreciated.

I'm not a big spender, though cut back where I can, not on a fantastic salary either.

Can anyone help?

    Welcome to dfw.

There's a sticky at the top of the page which explains how to do an SOA. Sorry you've had a poor experience with cccs. To put up your signature click on user cp then signature.

You could go on the national debt helpline website on there they have a payment calculator you can download, an information pack and template letters so you can do it all yourself. I have for a year now and am happy there is enough there to help myself.

Do you mean a sig on your posts re the other stuff?

    Thanks guys

Yea need to sort out my SOA, have tried before but it works out I'm paying quite a lot to creditors each month so don't think I'm being realistic with my budget. Gonna keep a spends Diary for a month and take it from there I think. rayday2 I have found similar on Payplan, the idea of doing it myself appeals as I am a bit of a control freak and esp after experience with cccs. However I'm worried Creditors won't take me seriously and/or will keep on aggressively chasing their money (Lloyds have been a particular nightmare!)

Well the SOA and the spending diary would be a good place to start. Posting here automatically entitles you to our opinions lol -so don't think you have to do anything fancy - post your SOA when you can and we'll give our honest opinion.

Just put the SOA up here.

You could start a separate DFW diary on a new thread
