Well another newby on here sorry for that everyone:)
Had couple of LBM but getting older and this is the big one. Been on stepchange DMP for 6 months now and going ok but have got slight pay rise so going to go self managed this month so can pay bit more off.
Quick bit about me £25000 in debt and not on great wage living by myself so bit of struggle. I am going to use this diary as its hard to say but I also have a gambling problem which I am trying hard to beat. I hope with the help of this diary I can resist the URGE and maybe help some other people with the same problem along the way.
I dont trust myself to save just at moment so would rather put extra money to debt than leave in bank.
Cheers for now

Well done for getting started. I just wonder if given the other fights you have why you are going self managed. Maybe give it another six months?Mortgage at 01.01.14 £119,481.83:eek: today £0 Emergency fund £5.5/5.5k & £200/200 cash.:jWeight 24/02/19 14st 7lb now 12st determined to stop defining myself by my mistakes. Hi INOD, thanks for reply. Hard to explain but if I have spare cash it is lot tougher on the gambling front although I haven't had bet for month urge is still there at moment. Still early days for me and if I have no spare money I wont bet and hope it will get easier the longer this goes on. Probably sound ridiculous to any one without this problem but thats the truth and for once this diary is were I can be myself and truthful. Very hard to say these things to friends and family who think i am a successful man:(8 Debts £25000ish:(

Morning All,
Going to be a lovely day, warm already out there.
Start of a very busy but exciting week at work. I am very lucky that I have a job I love (most of time!!) but start work early and hours can be long. Amazing really if I can just get rid of this debt I would have good life. Great family and friends feeling positive this morning. I apologize in advance for my waffling and bad vocabulary but hoping by jotting things on here I for once can stay on track.
Cheers for now8 Debts £25000ish:(

Hi themidasman,
Welcome!!
We are all newbies on here at some pointWell done on stage 1 of your debt free diary.... wanting to get the problem sorted.
I am in a fair amount of debt myself from basically living above my means... it took me a lot of LBM to finally stick to keeping a diary, and to stick to beating this debt. You are in the best place for help and support, we are all in the same boat.
Have you completed a statement of affairs? That way we may be able to help spot areas to cut down or change.
Good luck on your debt free journey, I am looking forward to following your progressTotal debt to pay: £14,071.41/ Remaining debt: £12,884.12: Amount Paid: £1,187.29

Well not best end to week, had little "wobble" on betting front. Only very small bet but annoyed with myself one good thing is I realized straight away and stopped so could have been worse.
Had my first debt sold on. #i usually get bonus at x-mas so going to hopefully be able to p&f a few debts around then. Not going to pay any extra off debts going to be strong enough to put in savings account time I grew up.
Off for a run have good sunday everyone.8 Debts £25000ish:(

Good few days, busy at work and plenty of miles run. I do the odd marathon so try running 3 or 4 times a week. I find it a good way to de stress and also keep away from betting. Going to pay few debts today so going to be skint till end of month but better than paying bookies!!8 Debts £25000ish:(

Time flies another week gone!! Got another couple of big weeks at work so looking forward to that. Paid few quid off but not as much as I wanted ended up down pub couple of times to be honest. So expensive no wonder pubs are struggling. Think that will do on beer front till i have done my next marathon in couple of months. Going for a decent time so need to keep training hard.

Hey themidasman,
You are doing really well so far, and don't worry too much about the odd slip up it happens to us all!
Keep going, all of them off pounds you pay off are one step further, and also more than you were paying before you realised you needed to do something about this.
That is great about the marathons I would love to do one, and I will once my fitness is where it needs to be.Total debt to pay: £14,071.41/ Remaining debt: £12,884.12: Amount Paid: £1,187.29

Thanks Laurag89, keep getting the miles in and before you no it you get quicker and stronger. In just over 6 months i have gone from 10 min miles for about 3 miles to under 4 hour marathons. I am no athlete so possible for anyone. Helps keep the weight down and my resting heart rate has dropped by over 10 which has to be good!!
No bets since last scare and actually feel strong at moment. Bought Allen Carrs get out of debt book which was interesting, he has a gambling one which I should have got and I might for only 3 quid. Nothing new in book but did get me thinking.
Have good wkd everyone I am working so will speak next week.
Catch up soon8 Debts £25000ish:(
