It's little wonder so many people are in debt

Understood Lemma, I wasn't in any way condoning applications, I was merely trying to point out that even with a credit rating as shocking as mine, some lenders are still willing to grant credit, hence it's little wonder some people manage to sink further and further into debt.
Please don't think I was supporting my actions, I'm far from savvy when it comes to money and wouldn't suggest anyone else applies JUST for the lure of the cashback. I'm daft, don't copy me!! :P0 -
Clearly the OP applied with her eyes wide open and has the resolve to freeze it.
But her point is well made - for a £8.50 tempter a subprime lender has given her further credit , when they know full well (cos she was initially declined) that her credit was poor and with a whoppiing interest rate to boot.
All of us have to take responsibility for our actions though, and I just want people to make informed decisions rather than thinking that no harm can be done and few realise that these applications can harm.2013 TARGET £30k

Jinx!
I don't want it to seem like I'm suggesting irresponsible behaviour/lending because I'm most certainly not, I wouldn't have had the foresight to freeze the card if it weren't for this site and some of the brilliant advice given and you never know - having the card might even go some way to repairing my history or at least putting some good numbers on it!0 -
I didn't realise that MBNA were a sub prime lender with an average apr of 15.9% isisn't that more mainstream?0

I think she was referring to my being accepted by Aqua rather than MBNA.0

MBNA are certainly 'sub prime'.:rolleyes:I am NOT, nor do I profess to be, a Qualified Debt Adviser. I have made MANY mistakes and have OFTEN been the unwitting victim of the the shamefull tactics of the Financial Industry.
If any of my experiences, or the knowledge that I have gained from those experiences, can help anyone who finds themselves in similar circumstances, then my experiences have not been in vain.
