I can't give in -

Options
My / our finances have been in difficulty for while. I work full time as a teacher and therefore my salary is not bad compared to many. However, over the years, my husband has run up debts which we have converted into additional loans against our house. I now pay almost 1000 per month for my mortgage and loans on the house. We have card debts of approximately £11,500 and an overdraft of £1290. My husband has end stage renal failure and is waiting for a transplant (praying he makes it that far) and so does not work. He claims PIP but has only been awarded the lowest mobility element and so gets £83 per month. We also have two wonderful children and a dog.
I suffer with a genetic condition which affects my joints and causes me great pain.
At 35, I hate that I am still relying on my parents to pay for things for me as we have no savings and so when things go wrong we have nothing to fall back on. We have just had to accept my parents paying almost £500 to fix our car and recently £150 to fix the roof. I have looked at my budget and can genuinely see nothing that we can cut back on. However, something has to give. I need to get things back on track. I struggle to find any time as I work from 7:30 till 5:30, leaving home at 7am and getting home at 6.15. I have rejoined the extra payment a week challenge (which I originally started and am thrilled that people have continued in my absence) and am going to try to raise the £1000 emergency fund from that challenge too as I think with my chidlren growing up it is even more important that I have something to fall back on.
I have literally no idea where to start with this. I have changed my gas and electric and applied for a loan to pay off my credit cards which I know many of you will disagree with but will lower my outgoings which will help me to save hopefully.
I am going to tryt o get some CDs sold and some other bits sold on ebay or facebook and I make greetings cards but that makes very little money. I think I am going to try doing some competitions as this may help.
If any of you have any ideas to help me or think of things I could do I would really really appreciate your support.

    Hiya Inamin,

Welcome! I'm sure there will be many along soon offering help and advice if you can post an SOA (statement of affairs) this gives a good idea of your incomings and outgoings and the advice can be more specific and the tips may not be something you have thought of yet.

If you have high interest debt it may be worth focusing on that before trying to raise the £1,000 emergency fund.
