Mortgage - Joining new company

Options
Hi all. I am new to the forum and would really appreciate any advice on the following:

For the past few months, I have been freelancing as a software developer since being made redundant over 9 months ago. Things have been tough to say the least, but over the past 5 months I have been pulling in some money from some projects. However, I feel I have been thrown a lifeline; A senior colleague from an old job, who is an EU national and resident abroad, is starting a new software company in the UK shortly and is keen on hiring me.

I will be working as a permanent employee and will be signing an employment contract. I am also planning to be on the mortgage (currently on my wife's name) which is up for renewal shortly. My wife is employed part time now, since we've had our baby boy.

My concern is, would me being employed by a new company affect our mortgage application? I understand some lenders are happy with an employment contract, 6 months of bank statements and 1 payslip. Does the age of the company that employs me matter in anyway?

Thanks in advance for any feedback. Regards.

This is a tricky one, particularly if the employing company does not yet exist.

There are numerous different approaches to new employment by Lenders.

I cannot see you getting a result on this without the help of a broker.
