Cheap snack

Options
Myself and my OH felt the hunger come on yesterday evening and fancied a snack. After turning down a trip to the supermarket to buy something (as we'd probably end up spending more than we wanted to) we started watching the Hairy Bikers on the Beeb.

They were cooking pancakes, and we thought, we've got eggs, milk and flour. Cheap snack or what!! Must have made about 7/8 with 110g flour, 2 eggs, 200ml milk and a touch of water (Delia's recipe). Who knows what that works out per pancake, but next time you want a cheap snack go for pancakes.

God only knows why most of us only cook them once a year!!

My 6 year old Dg loved her first shrove Tuesday pancakes so much, that she always requests them for breakfast when she stays with us. At first I was reluctant to give them to her as I didnt consider them "breakfast material", but thinkiing about it she gets an egg, milk and I squeeze a fresh orange over them, that with a minimum of sugar has to be better than the hideous breakfast cereal children consume these days.

My fussy eater of a son went through months (yes months) of having them everyday for his dinner. As Balmaiden says they have eggs, etc so I figured he was getting some protein and other goodness.
