Nothing like a redundancy to kick you up the bum!

Hi I'm Charlotte, I used to be on the MSE forums years ago and then kind of fell off the face of the interwebs until I started my blog back up on my 27th birthday last month - now I'm back with a vengance!

We've known for a while that I'm going to be made redundant but as it's getting ever closer it's starting to scare me about the lack of other jobs out there and it's becoming a very real possibility that I could be out of a decent paying job for a while, obviously if it comes to it I'll work anywhere to have some income coming in, I wont just sit on my bum and sulk :rotfl: I'm looking for new jobs each morning at work and at the moment one or two are coming up a week but it's slim pickings!

Between us (OH and myself) we have a few CC, a car payment, he has a loan to his Mum and we now owe a bit more money to her and some to my parents as we had to cancel our wedding (due to not being able to afford it now :() and have said we will pay them back the deposits they lost.

We are trying to cut spending back to a bare minimum now and throwing what we can at our debt snowball whilst creating an emergecny fund (I'm a bit of a Dave Ramsey nut, OH can't stand his radio show but I love the podcasts, I'm not religious but find them so motivating :T)

In an ideal world I'll leave my current job at the end of June and have a new job no later that the end of July (redundancy pay out should last us until September just covering my share of bills and what not) but worst case we'll be living on beans on toast and I'll be spedning every waking minute blogging and sewing to bring in some more pennies...coincidentally this would be my ideal life along with some chickens in the garden and an amazing veggie garden...I'm working on the veggie garden ;)

I guess that enough for an intro post, can't wait to chat and get to know you all!

I had a quick informal phone interview this morn for a job I'd love to get and have been asked to do a 2nd phone interview on Monday so things could already be looking up job wise (keep fingers crossed for me!) :T

We created an 'empty your pockets' jar last week which is where we put any money we have left in our wallet/purse/bag/pocket on a Sunday (we both have a weekly allowance that we withdraw on a Monday so we don't leave ourselves short for the week by doing this) and once a month we'll take it to the bank and pay another chunk however big or small of the first thing in the debt snowball.

My OH sold his electric drum kit today so he added the £150 from that straight to the pot which is a nice way to start the debt free journey, I've got a lot to sort through and sell which should bring in some more £'s just need to try and add some bits to FB selling groups each weekend, my sis in law also has a ton of stuff she wants me to put on eBay for her which she'll pay me a commission for.

Here's hoping I have a relatively low spending week!

Spent the last of my weeks 'pocket money' (I give myself £20 a week on Monday which has to cover Slimming World fee and bus fare if I need it as well as be my fun money) with a trip to the tiny local nursery - it's essentially someone's very large back garden with lots of poly tunnels and they do amazing deals on veg plants.
I spent my last £11.50 of the week (it had been a relatively cheap week in terms of treats for me) on a amazing haul of veg plugs and plants which, if you think about it, will save me money come harvest time as I'll have lots to eat and freeze!

Looking forward to another cheaply week, hope everyone else has good ones xxx
