Marble Slab?

Hiya,

I'm after a piece of marble or similar for rolling out pastry. I have a wooden work top and I'm not keen on using it.

Any ideas? I've looked at Lakeland and Amazon. No joy.

Thanks all.

:) Architectural salvage yard? Monumental mason? Builders supplier? You won't want to pay carriage on something that heavy if you can avoid it.

Try your local monumental stonemason - they're usually near the cemetery ;)

That's where the ones me & my brother have came from - mine is white / grey marble, his is black / grey marble.

When you say 'no joy', do you mean you couldn't find one?

I remember having the base of an old fireplace to dispose of in a former house. Maybe Freegle or Ebay might have something which would be suitable?

Do you know anyone whose had a granite work top fitted? The sink cut out is ideal. Mines sat in the garage gathering dust

I bought one of these at a boot fair about three years ago and it cost me 50p,two of the rubber rests underneath were missing so I took the other two off and replaced the four of them with rubber washers that you use on a tap and stuck them on with superglue so my unit top in the kitchen didn't get marked or scratched Brilliant things and great when you have something hot and need to rest a pan or whatever without mucking up the ordinary units. Have a search in the CS or at boot fairs I have seen them around and because they are fairly heavy perhaps thats why folk get rid of them I was very pleased with mine and it will outlast me probably :):):)

I've got a big piece of slate at the side of my gagage, it was shelving at the side of the fire.
