Would another company employe me?

Hi all,
I really cannot make ends meet due to the location of my work (a financial burden), and also my health. I'm interesting in looking for another location of work, however, it's tricky because I'd have to give my current employer 4 weeks notice (as stated in my contract).
Would another company favour someone else instead of me because of how long they'd have to wait for me to start work for them and leave my current position?
Thank you.

Depends what you are doing and current recruitment situation in your area.
1 months notice is absolutely the minimum in many areas and so companies are well aware that this is what they will be waiting for subject to negotiation. So only if they have a dire need for someone yesterday will it really cause any issues.
Many people in management will have 3 months notice periods and so when you come across someone with a 1 month notice its like Xmas

All depends on the business need, sometimes I have lost jobs due to having a notice period and not being available immediately and sometimes a company is happy to wait up to 3 months.
The same applies when I have been hiring, sometimes i need a contractor asap, and others I can forward plan and allow up to 5 months for the recruitment process and notice periods.
Don't be put off, bang out your applications, its just a numbers game.0 -
1 month notice is pretty standard and shouldn't be a bar to obtaining new employment. Obviously, if they need somebody quickly and an applicant has immediate availability they will be better placed.0
