The Election and First Tume Buyers

I have seen many parties come out and say they will look to help FTBs get on the property ladder but I have not seen much substance to these claims. All I have seen is Cameron saying that they will look to reduce taxes associated with building property so that the FTB ends up with a 20% discount. Surely it would just mean more profit for the builder?

FTBs will not be 'helped' until something happens and the prices come down, and foreigners cease buying so much property, especially in London.
I fear that an economic collapse, most likely courtesy of gobbling millipede and the two fish, is the thing that will make this happen. It will have hugely detrimental effects on other people, but never mind, property prices will come down.0 -
people will be able to buy homes when the number of available properties is sufficient to reduce the price
we need to build more homes to (more than ) match the rising population0 -
and to do the above UKIP needs votes.0

My points to your post above:wall:
What we've got here is....... failure to communicate.

if i were looking to buy over the next 5 years I would vote red as I think they will probably meet their goal of a million homes built over the five years wereas the blue team will probably only get ~0.7m built methinks
So a labour vote should see 300,000 more homes for sale which will keep prices rises lower
also economically the 300,000 homes will add at least 1,000,000 man years of economic output a nice boost to the economy0 -

is that estimate based on their track record when last in power?0 -
which of the red or blue parties do you think will see more homes built over the next 5 or 10 years?
neither have explained how they intend to meet these targets so I've no real idea of who would be better for more house building: sadly both seem to like subsidising demand rather than enabling more supply0 -
Housing is the one thing thats really holding me back from voting cons tomorrow, i dont believe they will do anything to really help the housing market, which where i live is pretty ridiculous
I would never usually consider voting labour, but millibands proposals are really the only thing I am interested in at the moment, the non dom thing and the rent controls thing would have a double blow on the housing market, which would be bad in the short term for everyone, even FTBs, but it could help to reset the market, and install some sense for the medium term
Keeping cons in isnt going to fix the problem0
