i am looking at buying a house valued at 225K, i and OH earn a total of about 37K.. i can put a deposit of up t0 50K though i would rather put 15% (33750).. i want a fixed rate of between 2 to 5 years. i have been offered 3 year fixed for 5.99% with £999 fee. what do u think and can i do better?

I think you can get better - I would approach a financial advisor and see what they can offer you. I think the fee is a bit high for the rate you are getting. For example Nationwide BS offer a 5 year fixed at 5.98% with a £599 fee. A financial advisor would find the best deal to suit your needs.0
