I've been browsing these forums for quite a while, and have always put off creating an account, although I have taken note of some of the tips and advice that have helped me over the past couple of years, I came to the conclusion that the journey to debt freedom would be better jumping in feet first to this online community which I've observed for a while, and creating an account!
So, my debt as at just before payday (I count just before payday because my pay clears a chunk of my overdraft I have used) this month was £4,330.41. I have a decent salary, and my debt has been steadily decreasing over the past two years, but I plan to ramp things up. My aim is to clear that total in 10 months, however its my first month on my cut-back budget, so I'll have to see how things go at the end of this month, and possibly re-adjust the estimate if the budget is too tough or too generous...
My biggest weaknesses with spending money tend to be socialising - meals and lunches out with friends and my partner, and I also seem to accumulate a collection of "junk" I don't really need from a variety of shopping trips...
So far this month since payday, some of the good money things I've done are:
* Returned an item of clothing that didn't fit (I would normally often forget to do this and waste the money)
* Traded in some unwanted video games and blu-rays for cash
* Set myself a tighter living budget...and stuck to it for one week
Aim to post here the things I do well and the things I don't do well, and progress on the debt, to keep myself motivated! :j
