Is there a letter template for offering a small payment to close defaulted card acc.?

Hi,

Is there a letter template for offering a small payment to close defaulted credit card account? Otherwise, any advice on this matter would be gratefully received. I have a defaulted credit card that will 'drop off' my credit report in July 2016 but I'd like to make a payment and get it removed sooner. Is there an acceptable minimum payment, e.g. 5%/10%?

My credit rating has dropped considerably and I want to do all I can to raise it.

Many thanks for reading this!

    Dear Sir/Madam

    Without prejudice

    Account No:

I write with reference to the money which you are claiming on the above account.

I can confirm that I am unable to pay the money which I owe in full.

However, I can raise £ and I want to offer this as an ex-gratia payment in full and final settlement of the account. This offer is made on the clear understanding that, if accepted, neither you nor any associate company will take any other action to enforce or pursue this debt in any way whatsoever and that I will be released from any liability.

I also request that, if accepted, you make an entry on my credit reference agency file relating to the above account as having been paid and the account closed.

Payment can be made within of receiving your written agreement of this offer and method of payment.

I look forward to hearing from you.

    Yours faithfully

I can't take credit for it unfortunatly, it's off the National Debtline website, there are others on there too for various other scenarios.

    Good luck !!!

It still wont remove it from file any sooner
Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.
  • Sorry, yeah I realise that. But it will show that the account has been settled, as far as I'm aware...

You can take the credit for taking the time to share it with me, though, so thank you!
