Afternoon all! A quiet weekend here, watching the tennis
A good week of Eb*y sales, made just over £40 selling some shoes and baby clothes. Unfortunately did not go to debt, DS needed new trainers so I got these and a pair in the next size up on a special 'reduced if you buy two pairs'deal. Good for when I'm off on mat leave and money is tight.
All big payments out for the month. Debt total only down by £400 this month which is a bit disappointing. This is because I ended up using my M&S card at the end of last month for an unforseen expense. Sooner my emergency fund is fully funded the better. On the plus side I'm expecting a work related bonus on 20th July, estimated at £600. Will make an extra payment to biggest debt then and will use the rest to buy a new baby car seat.
Started going through all my saved baby stuff and found lots of good as new crib/Moses basket sheets as well as neutral barely worn newborn stuff. So car seat should be only baby related spend before baby arrives.
Hubby was hoping for dinner out but we've compromised with a visit later to a newly opened Wa*trose to hopefully pick up a nice treat for dinner. Also not shopped at Sa*nsburys for a while and got in some great vouchers this morning for £12 off a £60 shop. Even with the higher prices in store compared with other supermarkets I think this should save some cash so will head here for weekly shop tomorrow. Off to meal plan now :A
Happy weekend! X0 -
Hope you enjoyed your waitrose meal - jealous ! And well done on your eBay sales - £40 is very good and it means the new shoes are neutral cost.
£400 off the debt is still very good, we have to keep reminding ourselves that debt going down is the main thing, not increasing or even staying the same. I have definitely learnt that making large payments doesn't work if you then use credit cards for paying for things. It's about spending within budget AND making some payments.

Hi there!
Just thought I'd post to say well done! You seem to be doing really well
I also love a holiday so understand that you want to put some money aside for one! I think there are two approaches to paying off debt...the crazy have no life approach and pay off every spare penny (I admire those who do that) or the enjoy your life but pay off as much as you can (my approach). I think both ways work it's just what fits you personally, I would go crazy without being able to see friends and do nice things with my OH!
Great news about the eBay sales, I haven't been doing very well on there lately, people seem to want to buy things for pennies!
Hope you've had a good weekend
Ps. Love your tip about rounding down the current account and paying off credit card, definitely going to try that!0 -
Hi Spendaholic! Many thanks for posting, it's nice not to be talking completely to myself!
eB*y sales actually turned out not as profitable as I expected. I underestimated postage ( though feel like maybe the guy at the post office has made a mistake) so my actual profit was very little. Hopefully I will get some good feedback to make it worthwhile, and I've declutter end a bit too so bonus!
Posted some books totalling £8.45 to Ziffit a week ago and not heard anything yet. Hope my stuff is safe!
Other than that got 20p on surveys and managed a LSD. £3.20 on ice creams at the park :-) x0 -
Finally got a balance transfer offer from my card with the highest limit -0% til June 2016. Transferred the bulk of my RBS card to it costing £64 in transfers fees, but this is much less than the interest is be paying on the debt. Paid the remaining approx £300 off from what's left over in my tax savings account.
New debt total £11364. I'm toying with the idea of clearing the smaller debts off fully first, Dave Ramsey style. Then all the debt will be in one place. Will need to take another look at that.
Got £8.45 from my first time selling books on Ziffit. Just leaving this in my PayPal account with my eBay sales profits at present. Haven't decided what to do with My sale profits yet - pay to debt? To emergency fund? Leave alone and allow to build to let me get some new clothes after baby born? This is def much needed! Will leave it for now.
Happy weekend!0 -
Posted another 2 eBay parcels today. £25 of profits now transferred to Next card ( leaving enough to cover seller fees).
I've decided that I am going to go Dave Ramsey Style and pay off the 2 smaller remaining debts asap then I can turn my attention to really focusing on the big one. It helps that approx 1/3 of this is at 0% now.
Still aiming at getting under £6k by Christmas but with only 2 more wages to go before I go on mat leave this could be tricky. Must keep up the ebaying!
3 NSD's now planned :-)0
