Lgps - relationship between LTA and ETV

Hi all

I think I've seen something posted previously on this but can't find it !

I've had my latest lgps statement and the LTA is higher than I expected. Is there any correlation between this and any estimated transfer value ? Or is it down to each set of trustees ?

Thanks and have a fab bank holiday weekend

They are related in the ssnse that they both use your pension and lump sum in the calculation but thats about it.

Your LTA is 20 x Pension + Lump Sum

a CETV would be calculated based on your pension, lump sum and spouse's pension figures, the Goverment Actuaries Department factors (which are age related), adjustments would be made for any protections that may allow you to retire under the scheme NRA without reductions and any NI modification or GMP you have.
