Apply for State Pension online

My OH retires on the 5 September 2015 and thought being a quiet day would apply for his pension online. However despite it states the following "Are you within 4 months and 4 days of your State Pension age?" and you enter YES then you enter your DOB and press continue and then says "You are too early to Apply for your pension".

Despite it being within the time frame I find this very strange. I know it does not really matter now but if its 4 months then this perhaps should be stated.

Perhaps it's a double check that the applicant knows his state pension age correctly

Does seem a clumsy way of doing it

I would be inclined to wait until Tuesday anyway. Taking the 4 months 4 days stated to exclude weekends & bank holidays.
  • Can we have the link to the webpage to do this application online please?

    Thank you.

I'd guess clarification is being asked for because retirement age and State Pension Age are different for many people.

There are three dates that could be described as "Retirement Age" for me:

    - My actual Retirement Age = 60 (because I am a woman)

    - My revised State Pension Age = somewhat older than that ...darn it...

    - THE Retirement Age (not sure exactly what this currently - 65? 66? 67?).

When I say my "Retirement Age" - I mean 60 and that's when I retired personally....and I then go on to speak through gritted teeth referring to my "(revised) State Pension Age" as the Government is still currently nicking the State part of my pension until I get to that age...

Fair point. However as someone has already said it probably excludes weekends. Thanks for input.

PS. This after you enter your dob.

    Claim your State Pension online
    Too early to claim

It's too early for you to claim your State Pension.

The earliest you can claim State Pension is four months before your State Pension age.

For information on the State Pension and the date you can claim from go to:

    State Pension
    State Pension age calculator

    unquote

On front of screen states 4 months and 4 days.

No, don't be so stupid. The question is what you think it means.

Very disappointed in your reply. I thought I was dealing with a mature adult. How wrong can you be.

You would probably be better ringing them up and asking.Hubby and I got ours through quite quickly.Online it just would not recognise certain letters in our password and email address!! At least on the phone they will be able to tell you exactly when you can get a forecast if it is just a little too early.
