This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine

Morning, (((((((((((((((((((((((hugs))))))))))))))))))))if you need one. Its bucketing here, the plants I put in yesterday will be well watered in.
Off to Aldi for 10am when they open, the shelves should be well stocked by then.
OH's new medication seems to be working, thankfully he has not had an attack of palpitations since he had them in hospital, fingers crossed that them under control. If we could just do that with the dizzies life would be great.
Shoulder of lamb for supper tonight, I put slivers of garlic into it yesterday, its in its oven bag ready to be cooked.0 -
Morning all
Csarina, thanks for starting the thread, I hope OH is on the mend.
It's pertiddiling down here at the moment, so my washing will go on the maiden, hubby treated the lawn yesterday & it needed a good soaking after so he's pleased about the rain.
Nice to see the Royal baby finally arrived, I'm always happy when anyone has a wanted baby whoever they are.
No idea what hubby wants to do today, he may do some gardening, I'll catch up on the housework I didn't get done yesterday with DGD here. She is a sunny little soul, always singing, unlike her older sister who is quite solemn & intense, but just as loveable. All 3 sisters have names from songs & DGD can sing all of them, I especially love to listen to her sing Jolene, particularly when she sings 'I'm begging of you please don't take my mayun' with the Dolly Parton accent spot on.
Time I made a move, back on the bandwagon today, I'm really struggling with the diet recommended by the practice nurse, she can't suggest anything I can eat, just a list of things I can't. Her latest no no is stewed rhubarb, hey ho, back to dry toast for breakfast.
I'll have to give away all the rhubarb hubby has so carefully grown for me.
Have a good day everyone.

Morning all,
woke up early with plenty of time to think. Recently the only time I get to think is when everyone else is asleep. Hubby is at work tomorrow (I know its bank holiday but he's eager to get back to it. He says he isn't but I know he is). Youngest isn't back from my daughters' fianc!'s UK stag 'do'. I am presuming he was too hammered.
The plan for today for the girls is to visit my eldest Grandson Billy. I said I'd go with them but ive sent a message to my youngest daughter to see if she needs me to have my youngest Grandson as she was on her UK hen night last night. I did worry as to whether my eldest daughter would think I was playing favourites but I figured out it was for my daughters wedding and she hopefully will only get married once.... Not only that theres no way I can handle Soldier on my own. Well I can but I don't think either of his Mums would like it as instead of trying to talk to him quietly, he'd get yelled at if he was mine. Which takes me back to yesterday... Walking round a shopping centre and the fuss he made because he didn't want to wear his shoes or socks. They ended up carrying him (which I pointed out, would be no good for my daughters back).
Actually, hubby did shout at him last night when he was trying to trash one of my youngest Grandsons toys. My daughter (his Mum accepted it) but I don't think his other Mum was very pleased.
Soldier is a gorgeous little boy. Have you ever seen a Zulu child with a stammer and a lisp? I have and its cute... but as for his behaviour... I think i'll pass.
So today I am waiting on my youngest daughter to see if she wants me to have my Grandson. If not, i'll be going with the girls to see my eldest Grandson.
Stop the world I want to get off!
Have a great day all. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

LameWolf I hope you feel better soon xx
csarina I'm glad the meds are working xx
Scampi has decided the best way to get dry after a bath is to throw himself on the carpet and scoot along at lightening speed, twisting around as he goes :rotfl:
I was so cold yesterday, I put the heating on at 3pm. It's still cold this morning and raining too. I washed a load of towels last night, I'll hang them out on the line and hope they dry. I'll update my spreadsheets today and go through my needs lists (needs doing, needs fixing, needs replacing, etc) and my wants list (this is very important! lol) but as all that can be done while I'm sitting down, I'm quite happy

Morning all,
Wet here too. Done the washing, some is hanging to dry the rest was tumbled.
Not much planned for today. I decide I will do something then decide I can't be bothered! DH, DS2 and my dad are off to footy this afternoon, well more like lunchtime.
Might take myself off for a little walk later. Feeling very CBA today!
Have a good day all0 -
Morning all,
Had a brilliant day yesterday lots of shopping, a few drinks and lots of eating and much laughter did us all good, I am suffering a bit this morning but it was well worth it !
I have to go into work for a few hours today the plan is to be home asap so as soon as the lunch rush is over I shall come home and have a quiet afternoon on the sofa.
Not sure about dinner today will be something quick and easy though.

Good Morning everyone, although weather wise it's anything but good here today, very wet and windy and has been all night. I saw most of last night too, some idiot started letting off very noisy fireworks at 9.45 last night and the dog went into total panic mode, the fireworks were very close and very loud and only lasted 15 or so minutes. The dog and I saw 2.45 and were awake again at 5.06, so I'm not terrible enamoured of the person who was so inconsiderate! Never mind, Dadi is home again so one of us is very happy and now curled up asleep and content in his armchair.....sadly one of us isn't!
Not much planned for today or tomorrow, we tend to stay home for weekends and bank holidays as houndicus isn't too clever in crowds and if the truth be known neither are we. We can always fill our time but it would have been nice to be able to get into the garden and maybe have a cuppa outside, never mind, many small things to do indoors and the hound to take for walkies so never bored!
Have yourselves a nice day all, Lyn xxx.0 -
Morning everyone.
Am at Kings Cross waiting for my train. Virgin have got delays already made worse by the west coast services being cancelled today for repairs. I went to Euston and had a moments panic when mt train didn't show on departures board. Did a quick nip down to KX and could be here a while. Have to go to Edinburgh and change onto the Glasgow train. Never agsin on a Sunday.
Camelot - London is so busy. I couldn't stay here much longer! It's so difficult to get anywhere. The Natural History Museum was so packed the queue for the dinosaurs was round Dippy four times and the up the corridor.
Matilda was completely fabulous. I was a reluctant attendee but was mesmerised by the acting and the production. So glad I made the effort. Only downside was that Covent Garden tube station is exit only so it seems that the entire audience trooped to Leicester Square tube instead. Took ages but luckily most people didn't go on the Piccadily line. Got back to Our hotel very weary but happy.
Hope everyone is having a good Sunday.0 -
Morning everyone, well its rather wet and windy today, so I think the gardening we had planned will have to wait:)
I need to do lots of washing, and will have to dry it indoors today,, and get the ironing done.
DD's friends from Bromley are coming down to go the Sweeps festival, so she has gone to meet them. They are only staying the day, and are not coming up to the house. Its such a shame about the weather as last year was so hot.
Csarina, glad to hear DH's meds are working.
Redruby sounds like you had a great day out.
Judi, it must be so overwhelming and different for Soldier, so that may be a factor in his behaviour. I'm sure the wedding will be a wonderful occasion.
Tru, Scampi sounds such fun and must give you so much pleasure.
Well have a good day everyone, I had better get a move on and do some chores.SPC 11 #4450 -
Morning one and all. What a lousy day. The rain was lashing down and battering the front windows all night. It's eased off a bit now thankfully. The Tour de Yorkshire comes within about 3 miles of Casa Abuela this afternoon (The Cote de Goose Eye!!) and we did think we might head out and cheer the riders on but it now seems a better idea to watch the race live on ITV4 and keep warm and dry!
I'm having a CBA day too and lunch is just going to be scampi, baby potatoes and salad. Some lovely sweet strawberries and cream to finish off with. Mmmmm!
We are having the 3 DGDs to sleep over and look after all day tomorrow (DD working) so hope the weather clears up and we can get them out of the house. Since the eldest got the "new" bike donated last week, it meant the younger two could move up a bike size! So weather permitting we'll all go up to the quiet track to the moors and they can have a practice on them and we'll adjust the saddle heights if necessary.
RR and GERS you sound to have enjoyed your weekend trips. Sorry to read your sad news DG. (((((((( HUGS )))))))) to all in need. You are still in my thoughts ELONA. Some lovely photos JUDI. Take care all and have a good Sunday xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0
