pre-paid travel money card

Well its taken nearly 3 years to save for it but I'm planning a little holiday in the summer :j- first break in 7 years! Obviously the travel credit cards are not an option but has anyone had any trouble getting something like a uKash card post BR? I know they are pre-paid and in theory there shouldn't be a problem but just wondered...

Had a few different ones during my BR....took a cashplus one on holiday various times without an issue.

Just one thing to watch, pre-paids don't always work for car hire or hotels, not in terms of actual payment for a definite amount but where they want to 'hold' a sum in advance.

I think that with Cashplus you can arrange with them to be able to use the card for car hire but you need to check it out properly.

Gardner, do you have a steady job, bank account and a fixed address? Might be worth trying for an Aqua card?

I am very fortunate to have all those things - I am struggling with my CRF 'clean up' though (they are all wildly different and the blanket letter approach isn't working) but I'll have a go.

The pre-paids are attractive though due to the low/no charges on ATM's and spend whereas the 'poor credit' cards don't have those low charges. I will check them out though.
  • Having probs right now with ukash travel money card. Registered - got email inviting me to complete reg - then got email saying reg complete, although I had entered NO payment details. No idea if card has to be loaded on receipt. Website also took ages to load. Very much a MSE fan but fear this is a no-no. Luckily in no rush except to secure exchange rates so may opt for different card tomorrow. This really isn't working, MSE
