  • Not sure if your from Aberdeen as well diesel but if you are you will know that Aberdeen is now officially the most expensive place to live & buy property in the UK. That might surprize a few of our english friends because its usually london followed by either aberdeen or edinburgh.Where I live properties are going for in excess of £50,000 above asking price for the kind of property i live in.I always found it strange whilst working back & forth from london how people in london moaned about the price of living. I actually found it cheaper to buy just about anything in london & infact in other english cities too, than i could back home. I regularly bought my meat & fruit & veg etc in london & brought it home in a cool bag lol. It was only the property market in london that gave it the most expensive tag although I will concede that anything bought in central london was more expensive because of the tourist trade. But this is another topic. Sorry for going off the topic we are discussing lol
  • yup born & bred! :) dont thing people get how crazy its got here in the past year. i too thought london was really expensive til my cousin bought a place in London at what i considered to be a "normal" aberdeen price! yeh i saw a little fruit & veg market in manchester and couldnt believe how cheap it was. think we are being done up here! lol
it was in the media that aberdeen is one of the most expensive places to go to uni too!
  • I suppose we forget because of where we live, that the prices are often higher because of the transport costs involved getting fruit & veg here for example but it never ceases to amaze me that I can but a bottle of whiskey cheaper in some foreighn countries than here where it is bottled. That turns the transport costs angle of things on its head lol
  • lol, nah we are all supposed to be "minted" cause of the oil!! yup bottle of grouse in spain for 7euros, how does that work?? your in a better position if you choose to leave aberdeen and move somewhere else tho. :)
  • You might be right diesel being in a better position, but having said that, there are a lot worse cities than aberdeen. I personally think its a beautiful city. But sometimes people don't appreciate what they have til they move away for a while & then yearn to have it back again. that might end up being me partly lol
