can any one recommend me a decent washing manchine. I have a budget of £200, 2 adults in household no kids. On a water meter want one that has short cycles including a 60 degree wash that won't last hours. Also would like to be able to buy parts so DH can repair if necessary.

Would you consider a 2nd hand Miele?
I have them in most of my BTL's and they rarely break down.
Here's one: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Miele-W8444-Novotronic-Washing-Machine-Can-Deliver-Nationwide-for-45-/111652719986?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item19ff054d720 -
I'd love to answer the question, but I'd get shot.0

my Samsung WM was bought in a sale about 6 years ago. its a great machine. never had a minute trouble (stops to knock on wood). I used to buy Indesit as in my first twenty odd years of marriage they lasted at least ten years (and that was doing 3 to 5 loads a day). the last one I bought though was crap. virtually as soon as the warranty ran out it broke down and would cost almost as much to fix as to buy new - but my MIL gave me her Candy machine and although it was more than ten years old it lasted four years! I would look for the 'best sale price'.0

I've been pleased with my John Lewis own brand but I think it costs a bit more than your £200 budget.:(0

Mine is a Bosch, I've had it since 2009 and I think it's great but probably out of your budget.
Was £469 in Currys but we paid £386 online.
Here's a few things I would insist on in a washing machine:- quick wash (for lightly soiled items)
- delicates/silk
- timer - so I can set it to come on and wash my bedding so it's finished when I get up & can hang it out. also takes advantage of cheap electricity
- large capacity so I can wash superking size sheets & duvet covers and know that I wasn't overloading it

I've had a Bek0 for the last 4 years and cannot fault it. Go for the largest drum size you can afford as it helps with fewer creases
I always buy from these people. Quite a few in your price range

If I were you, I would be getting this one... £206. 7kg load and A++ rating with 4.7/5 on reviews http://ao.com/product/WMB714422-Beko-Washing-Machine-White-34471.aspx0 -
I second Beko as a great washing machine. Ours was a good price five years ago and is still going strong, had a quick wash and a rapid wash. Never had a days trouble with it even with OH always leaving things in his pockets, washing his trainers once a month and copes with the dogs beds well.0

I have an AEG Protex and it's the best machine I have ever had. I had it for the new house when I moved. The old one was a Hotpoint and although it was alright, it had lasted 12 years and was probably on it's last legs to be fair.
The AEG cost £369 from AO and they delivered it the day after we moved, which was fab.
Thing is the £200.00 is not going to get you too much but AO do have a Zanussi on there which is pretty good but it's not for heavy use and although it has good ratings and feedback if you are a heavy user it might not be the best. I had a Zanussi years ago at my first home and it was brilliant, never a days problem. Not sure what the new batch are like thoughCat, Dogs and the Horses are our fag and beer money:beer:
