Holiday Entitlement Under Zero Hours

Hi guys,

I work for a large retail chain in the UK who also have stores in parts of Europe, the US and beyond. We are being told at the moment that because we are only on zero hours contracts they have decided that we can only have one paid holiday day per week. Meaning that if say I wanted to take 3 days of I could only use one of my actual holiday days.

Something feels off about the whole thing and they openly admit that its to keep the wage budget under control but we have worked for those days so surely we are entitled to use them and not just have what amounts to a single paid day off.

As long as you get to use up your full entitlement during the holiday year they can dictate when you have holidays, on zero hour contract you don't have to work if you don't want to.

The liability exist so all it does is manage cash flow

As you can choose when you work book a paid day every week you have enough holiday accrued.
