Wage overpayment, change info P45

Hi, not sure if posting in the right place and hope it's not too long winded!
A company that i used to work for overpaid my wages. There was a lot of confusion at the time as i was signed off due to an injury and then ended up leaving the company. I have now set up a payment plan to pay back what i wasn't owed.
The problem i now have is that they have recorded these overpayments on my P45 and are refusing to change the amount until i have repaid the full amount which will take a while. Due to my P45 amount this has caused my tax credits to drop by quite a lot per week and have just realised i have been paying more tax than i should of been as it looked like i was working 2 jobs as on my P45 it says leaving date is roughly 6 months after than when i actually left.
Is there anyway i can get them to change the info on my P45 before I have repaid them in full?
Many thanks and hope you can make sense of all that!

You would be better off talking to HMRC. If you explain what has happened and what is happening, they will use that info to adjust your Tax as they see fit.Never Knowingly Understood.

Thank you. I did ring them at first and they said they can not change anything, it has to be the employer but i will give them another ring and see if i get anywhere, Thanks.0
