Is this correct?

Can anyone tell me if this is true - a debt collection agency is threatening to take me to court for a debt I already have a CCJ on ( from 5 years ago). They don't seem to know that there is already a CCJ which has messed up my finances for the last 5 years... I can't afford to pay the money all in one go, didn't owe it to them in the firstplace and now the debt is MUCH bigger because of all the charges (200 pounds) added on by other debt companies who wrote before? Can you have 2 CCJ's from one debt? My dad said that the original person you owe the money to would have to go back to the court to get payment and I should ring them and ask them to help?
I don't know what to do... I'm a bit scared to ring anyone in case I make an a**e of myself or agree to payments I can't afford ( I did that before and really struggled to feed myself at times).
Does anyone have any advice please....

I don't know if this is any help but when I worked collecting rent, if the council had a court order and the debt was not cleared within 6 years we had to take it back to court for another order.

It could be along those lines but I am sure someone will be able to tell us for sure.

I suggest you take your paperwork along to your local Citizens Advice Bureau for them to help you out.

Thanks for the advice - I've been trying to get hold of the CAB but its normally a recorded message saying when they are open. Its also a long way from where I live and work don't like me using the phone (plus I don't want everyone to know about an old debt - they will only think I am a loser :(
Does anyone else have any ideas as to whether you can get 2 CCj's by different companies for the same debt????

You can't actually get 2 CCJ's on the same debt - however, a dca can apply to the court to get an existing, defaulted, CCJ re-instated after 6 years, when it would, normally, fall off of your credit record.
Have you made ANY payments against the original CCJ?
You can go back to the court and ask for time to pay.

Thank you for the replies. I did get another CCJ for the same debt.
I don't know what to do now - my credit rating is ruined for another 6 years and who am I supposed to pay? I can't pay both. How can a bank sell on a county court judgement - I thought the court owned the debt once it was issued and The first CCJ was in dispute because it was mostly excessive bank charges of about £50 a day anyway. The bank weren't interested for 5 years since I disputed it.
Does anyone know what I can do now?
