Is a mortgage possible?

Hi, just after some advice, we were looking at buying a house new year, however a property has just come on the market that would be ideal, so thought we would check if it would be possible or a none starter. I have emailed a couple of brokers today and am waiting to hear back.
The situation is hubby would be buying property in his name, basic pay is approx. £25,000, extra on top for working away adds up to approx. £3/4,000 a year. Tax credits go into husbands account at £170 per week.
Outstanding balance on credit card £7,000 which will be paid by the end of the year. Checked DH noddle account, there is a default registered on 12.12.2013 off a mobile phone company for £103. We have email confirmation off the company stating they are in the process of removing it and refunding us money overpaid on the account. There is also a late payment marker off British Gas from when we moved into our current house. DH went away with work, BG would not discuss account with myself to transfer funds from new account which was £500 in credit to the old account (£150). They eventually saw sense and transferred the amount over and closed down the old account. The late payment marker was in June 2014.
The property we have seen is on the market for £105,000 and we would be looking at using forces help to buy for 10% deposit. Are we wasting our time even looking at the house? Or would we be better waiting until next year when the credit card is cleared and we have saved more to add to the deposit?
Thanks in advance.
