How much training do you think someone should be given after qualifying? Bearing in mind I am new to the industry......

Top bod or not he is only human and goes to the bog like the rest of us. I always find when I am intimidated by someone (and yes you lot it does occassionally happen) imagining them naked it best (only if they are mingers as if they are fit it can cause problems).

Remember top bod or not, he was once in your shoes once.

Approach him for advice, if he's unhelpful go find someone else to ask, and if they are unhelpful i would THEN start looking for another job!

Training and support is a continuous process as laid down by the Financial Services Authority but unfortunately not all companies have the required infrastructure in place to be able to cope.

Your problems seems to indicate that your company are not very good at training trainee advisers and you may want to reconsider your position.

Don't take any cr*p from them

Give them a chanceI say and dont rush into any decisions. set yourself a deadline by which time you would like to see things improve and if they haven't improved then leave. Be thinking about your exit strategy and perhaps look for a new position in that last six weeks, also, as an adviser unless you work for a very large organisation don't expect to work your notice. Most companies will be rid of you same day you give your notice due to potential conflicts of interest.

  • Thanks again guys 4 your replies....

Will try and picture him naked! Think he is rather fit though!! But hey got to be better thinking phwoar, than feeling scared!

We'll see what happens in the next month. (I do have another company interested to talk to me, but they deal in sub prime)

Not many Mortgage Advisers in the company...... so feel a bit thick sometimes next to all the financial advisers.

Still baffled how I can be finding it so hard to read a factfind! I just can't see the info i need...... but not sure yet if that is my inexperiance or if i'm right!?

You will get there eventually, this is a difficult job to break into and even more difficult to get good at. keep trying, be stubborn persistent and insistent and don't give up. The only time you have ever failed anything in life is when you have given up. try readig lots and lots of fact finds during your lunch break so you can familiarise yourself with them.

  • Yes reading lots..... subscribed to a few magazines.

Reading this site is great to. I like reading all the problems thinking what I would suggest, and then reading others answers. This is helping to boost my confidence!
