Hi, new to the forum.
I recently signed up with equifax in order to check my financial situation.
I have 2 outstanding debts which are currently in default since 2012.
EE - 131 pounds is from a sim only mobile contract which i entered into, i didn't even open the letter after the sim was sent out to me so it was unused.
Lowell - 287 (default balance 46 pounds) is from an 02 contract, i lost the phone shortly after entering into the contract and stupidly didn't pay the bill.
These are my only issues on my credit file, i want to get them cleared and i'm happy to pay them in full but i'm not sure of the best approach as i'm worried about the defaults on my file for several years.
Any help would be greatly appreciated

Hi,
Defaults stay on your file for 6 years, regardless of weather the debt is paid or not.
Have both accounts been defaulted yet ?
If not, it's likley they will be at some point.
You have already started the process by defaulting, and as the creditor has to record how the account has been managed, I'm afraid you won't be able to avoid it.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards. Hi, yes both are in default.
I was considering contacting the collection agency and either asking for details of the debt to be sent so it can be proved, or offering full payment in return for it's removal. i'm guessing the latter may not be possible for legal reasons.
Another route is possibly pleading nicely for removal after as they are small amounts to ruin my credit rating
I have several finance agreements which are smooth with no problems at all and i want to get a mortgage!0 -

No, they won't remove defaults unless they have been incorrectly recorded, I would certainly ask for proof of the debt before I paid anything.
