Property rental prices in Belfast
Comments

The rental market in Belfast is getting out of hand. Extortionate prices for very sub-standard housing. £50 per applicant is the standard fee for processing an application and most are non-refundable even if you fail to get the property. I had a friend look for somewhere recently and she told me people were nearly queuing around the block for one property, if you didn't get it as soon as it came on the market you had no chance so I don't think this trend is going to stop any time soon as its the basic economics of supply and demand. If people cannot afford to buy a house outright they should go Co-Ownership rather than rent for at least they will own a share of this property and see where their money is going, no deposit and your monthly outgoings will certainly be a lot less compared to what you will be giving to these landlords and their estate agents as long as you don't buy an over-priced house co-ownership over renting is the way to go0
