yes I second this. You can get therapy help on the NHS, I myself am awaiting my first appointment. Sure theres waiting lists etc but they come around sooner than you'd imagine, better than to not ever have it.
Though I have a history of this, I used to be on meds, but I refuse to go on them again because of the long process and the not so pleasant side effects starting, during, and after for the rest of my life.0 -
Awhile ago 'problems' with work - I tried them, but it wasn't the capsules/tablet that (literally) put a smile on my face - the Tea Bags!
Hi can you just clarify, you're saying the tea bags really helped you? I'm personally not very interested in taking pills every day but interested in the tea bag form.. Any recommended brands?0 -

You may find this organisation helpful if you want to find out how how other people bereaved by suicide feel and how they cope. They have local support groups and offer phone and email support.0 -
I thought that St. J. W. was just for mild cases of ongoing depression, as opposed to helping someone who has had a shattering blow.Who having known the diamond will concern himself with glass?

All anti-depressants (in fact any drugs) have side-effects. It's for the patient to choose whether or not the benefits from the drug will outweigh those possible side-effects. Anti depressants certainly have their place, I'm not dismissing them out of hand, but I do think they're doled out far too readily nowadays.0 -
It can cause sun sensitivity that won't subside until long after you have stopped taking them.0

Yes, I remember - I'd be walking to the bus stop, and thinking - 'why am I smiling?' 'ah that tea bag'.
Sorry, no don't remember any 'brands' though I've still got some 'Floradix' which are OK.
They are quite common now - seen them in different Supermarkets.
Good luck

I couldn't take it due to the pill
But you may want to try Mindfulness based Cognitive Therapy an 8 week course of 2 hour sessions, which has a strong evidence based including RCTs looking at it's effectiveness against traditional antidepressant medication. I know you're probably not in this area, but here's a link to some info on it https://www.exeter.ac.uk/mooddisorders/acceptclinic/treatments/mbct/ a lot of areas run these courses now sometimes alongside universities or as part of the NHS IAPT programme so worth googling/asking your GP about if interested
I've also found acupuncture really helpful0
