Rossendales - income and expenditure details

Hi,

I'm currently dealing with Rossendales in relation to a tax credits debt.

I ended up with an overpayment which I completely accept was my fault and am happy to pay back. I've offered £100 a month and made the first payment. Rossendales have since set me a letter asking for me to list my income and expenditure details which I'm not happy to do. I accept the debt and am currently repaying it so why do they need details of how much I spend a month in food?

I was planning on writing back saying something along the lines I assure you I can afford the repayments, it's coming from my wages etc etc

Surely the fact I'm paying it back should be enough for them or am I being completely unreasonable?

They want to check if you can pay more. They likely get commission as a % of amount paid and will want that ASAP.

    How much is it for?

I would write and tell them that its a reasonable amount, all you can afford.

    See what they say.

From Rossendales' point of view, you owe them money and they want to know if you have a large beer and pizza budget that you could reduce to pay them more.

You are not obliged to provide this information but they may take you to court if they think you can afford to pay more.

£100 on that amount is reasonable payments for little effort on their part. Should be ok.
