Hello lovely helpful members of MSE!
It's my 15 year old daughter's prom on 25th June and we have been searching for a prom dress for the last two weeks.
I had no idea how difficult it would be to find something that:
A) she likes
is reasonably priced (budget around £140)
C) not trashy
D) from a reputable website
E) that will come in time.
My Miss Fussy's ideal dress would be red, strapless, sweetheart neckline, full length and with some diamante detail (but not too much) but at this point I'm sure she would consider something not quite up to spec. She is size 8-10 and 5ft 8in.
The dress below would be close to perfect and we would have sewed a row of diamantes around the top but the website gets awful reviews (no swatches available, colours don't match, doesn't fit, poor quality, impossible to get your money back if you're not happy etc..) but it gives you an idea of what we're looking for..

We live in Cheshire so can travel to Manchester, Chester (been already but didn't see much), Crewe, Warrington..
Can anyone help at all?
(I will be in work all day so unlikely to be able to reply but I will try to read as much as I can and I really am grateful for any help)
Thanks
Sarah xx

Have you had a nose around etsy at all? I find it's great when searching for occasion dresses as the sheer choice unreal!
I did a quick search there with the words 'red' and 'sweetheart neckline' and found the below (which is gorgeous and I wouldn't mind for myself!!!). A lot of the dresses are shipped over from China, but by going through their reviews you can determine who is trustworthy. Some of them even offer alterations, so if tall/small/etc that can change things round or will make the dress in a different colour and so on.
It would be no harm to do a bit of searching on etsy, you two might find something that is exactly what you're looking for!

Hi,
My daughter's prom was a few years ago but we bought a beautiful dress quite similar to the one in your photo at a bridal shop in Winsford, Cheshire. The dress was quite reasonably priced and included couple of alterations (my daughter is very petite) and the dress needed to be taken in slightly but they did an excellent job.
The shop was run by a young woman and her mother, I personally found the younger woman to be more helpful, but at the end of the day if you get the dress you want thats all that matters!

How about this from Monsoon?: http://uk.monsoon.co.uk/view/product/uk_catalog/mon_1,mon_1.2/7450980906
It's £29 over budget but new customers can get 5% cash back through Quidco so the price would be down to £160.55. P&P is free.
Or this dress is available in a size 8 and reduced to £95: http://www.johnlewis.com/coast-vivia-maxi-dress-red/p1717158 It's not sweetheart but does have a v neckline. Sparkle could be added with some diamante accessories.0 -
