CCJ and satisfied debts

Options
Hi 2 questions really, hopefully someone can help

1. I have been charged for water at a property for 5 years after i moved out, i have eventually managed to persuade Anglia water that i haven't been living there but they have registered CCJ's for the years of debt, whats the best way to get these removed as i never owed the money anyway.

2. I have old debts showing on my credit file as satisfied but i have recently received a bill relating to that debt, could the debt have been reported as satisfied when it wasn't?

    Hi,

You would need to go back to the court that dealt with the case, and apply to get the judgement set aside, on the basis that the debt was not yours, there is a fee attached to this of £155.00.

You should then look at recovering your costs from the other side.

As regards you old debt issue, debts are sold on all the time, it could say satisfied because it's been sold to a DCA, who is writing to you ?

If it's a DCA, then send them the provit letter available from the stickies at the top of this forum.

  • Hi I also have a question about ccj's
After checking my credit score online I discovered 2 ccj's on my file which are not mine, I have never had a ccj. I believe that they are my father's as he has the same name and when I was living at home we shared the same address. I have contacted the courts which issued them and they told me to contact the solicitors representing the companies my father owed , I did this but they were no help and pretty much said it's not there problem.

Please could you give me some advice on how to get the ccj's off my file as they are destroying my credit rating?

    Ma

    Hi,
Same advice as above, you need to contact the court to have them removed as they are not your debts.

For specific advice I would suggest contacting National Debtlibe who would be able to help you further.
