Sainsburys 'Enjoy Summer' Glitch

The 'Enjoy Summer' promotion is almost over, and my store (so I assume others) has the coolbags reduced down to scan at £2.49 (the rugs and games sets went weeks ago, but you may be lucky in your store and find some)
This isn't a bad price for the bag - they're good bags - last years are still going strong despite almost daily use. However, if you buy the 5 food products for the offer (cooked meat, quiche etc - picnic food), the till is still taking £4.99 off again - hence the bag free, and a further £2.50 off the bill.
The cheapest food I can see at the moment under the offer is the cooked meats - some are on a 4 packs for £3 deal, so buy 5 packs to meet the Enjoy Summer terms, the meat will scan at 96p a pack, the bag at £2.49, and then the multibuys will discount 84p for the meat and £4.99 for the bag - hence paying a grand total of £1.46
Just thought it worth a mention while the weather's good and picnics are possible.
(put it here rather than shop but don't drop as it is limited stock now)

in my local sainsburys one of the SA was really helpful to someone else. They where marking down goods and she said if you buy 5 of the marked down items with the sticker on they could have the cool bag.
Thought that was rather nice if the SA.

I've had the blanket, games set and cooler bag for virtually nothing.
Got the games set last week from 6 pots of reduced dip that were on a multibuy of 2 for £2 (original price £1.19 each) but had all been reduced to 20p. So, got the 38p multibuy saving off my 40p spend for 6 pots ie:6p total spend. One hundred years from now it won't matter what kind of car I drove, what kind of house I lived in, how much money I had in the bank, nor what my clothes looked like but the world may be a little better because, I was important in the life of a child.0 -
Didn't work for me this morning - SAs had been told not to scan the bags. Ah well - would have bought the items anyway. cel x:staradmin:starmod: beware of geeks bearing .gifs...:starmod::staradmin:starmod: Whoever said "nothing is impossible" obviously never tried to nail jelly to a tree :starmod:0

I'm not 100% sure that I got the correct cool bag, but I thought it looked right, as it was £2.49 and the writing on the label was the same font as the enjoy summer logo. However, it did not have 'enjoy summer' written anywhere on the packaging. It was a dark maroon with 'Sainsbury's Try something new today' written on the bag itself.
Anyway, I got 5 of the 'enjoy summer' items and the cool bag and the cool bag just scanned at £2.49, with no extra reduction. Therefore, if I did get the right cool bag, they must have fixed the glitch.

I was in Sainsburys at around 3 oclcock and for once I was there at the right time and managed to get quite a few items from the chilled reduced section including some with the right stickers on. While I was in the paying queue I remembered the cool bags and sent my youngest to have a look for them, no joy. So I asked the till boy and he said they were on the seasonal section. Off went son number 2 again and found one. The till boy scanned it and it came up at £1.49 so he rang for a CS to over- ride this. CS came and said she was not sure wether the offer was still on or not so off she went to check. A while later (yes its always like this with me, never ever get in a supermarket queue behind me!) she came back and said no-one knew for sure so she was going to over ride it anyway. So as well as a great set of bargains including main meals for 2 days I came away with a new cool bag.
I still have last years bag and they are a really good size and very tough. The main problem with them is that they are bright red.
Supermarket shopping has made me now totally paranod, convince I am being watched as soon as I set foot in a store - whenever I go into Tesco I always try and keep a very low profile, work methotically through the list, choose my till person carefully, go through the tills, get as many coupons used up as possible with as little fuss as possible and then get out ASAP. Not easy to be invisible though carrying a bright red cool bag around the store :rotfl:“Create all the happiness you are able to create; remove all the misery you are able to remove. Every day will allow you, --will invite you to add something to the pleasure of others, --or to diminish something of their pains.”0
