Is it possible...

When you have a default on your record to improve your credit rating at all??

I know you can make it worse but is there anyway to make it as good as possible or will it just stay at 1 level of difficultness to get any credit untill the 6 years are up?

I have just started a re-mortgage this time had to go with a sub prime lender our defaults went on about a year ago, apparently we were only the first step on a sub prime so in 3 years time in his words we could shop on the hight street.

From that I would say on the whole scale of things one default is not too bad. Have you had a look at your credit report? Make sure there are no old accounts that are not closed etc they effect your rating.
