tiny Irish debt now living in the UK

Any advice would be great. I moved to the UK approx 8 years ago, whilst living here I had a credit union loan. I agreed to repay and up until last December it appeared it was paid off. Stupidly I didn't notice the interest was a separate amount. So today I receive a call from the Irish CU demanded payment of circa €1100 or I will be taken to court. My question is where so I stand regarding this? I admit it was my mistake however I had no contact (letters etc) stating I missed payment. A bizarre one but any help would be great. Thanks again

If you owe it - pay it - come to an arrangement to pay before it goes down legal route.0

Unless it's statute barred under ROI law, the debt is valid-which is presumably the case if you were still making payment up to 4 months ago. Not clear why you would think otherwise? In England the limit is 6 years. No free lunch, and no free laptop0

You say you have had no contact or letters from the credit union about the debt.
Had you told them you were living in the UK and given them an address?
You owe the money to the credit union, which I would assume operates under the same conditions as credit unions in this country. If you default, you are robbing other members of the CU who depend on it for finance.
Note: an amount of 1100 euros is not tiny. It is a large amount of money."There are not enough superlatives in the English language to describe a 'Princess Coronation' locomotive in full cry. We shall never see their like again". O S Nock0 -
surely paying a tiny debt would be no trouble0

It's not clear if the OP took the loan in the ROI while living in the UK? Which seems peculiar if credit were needed here in sterling?
What year was the loan taken? No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
kevinh12000 , could i borrow a tiny amount of money for holiday, say 1100 euros, go on, its only a tiny amount!
Pay ya damn debts!! MSE seems to be full of people looking for a way of net paying back what they borrowed instead of getting advice on how to pay it off lately!Plan: [STRIKE]Finish off paying the remainder of my debts[/STRIKE].
[STRIKE]Save up for that rainy day[/STRIKE].
Start enjoying a stress debt free life.....now enjoying. thanks to all on MSE0 -
If the credit union can obtain a judgment in Ireland it can then be enforced against you in the UK - so you may want to address the issue before it gets out of hand given that they know where are now living.0
