I was bankrupt back in 1993 but strange as it may seem it was never recorded anywhere. I have bought houses since and had several bankruptct searches done on me but all have shown up negative.
How does this stand in law as I have been made bankrupt again and of course the question you are asked on the form is have you been bankrupt before?
I have looked on the register and checked the London Gazette and nothing.
Any of you lovely people proficient in the law?

If the question was "have you been bankrupt in the last 5 years?" or something similar, you'd be quite correct in answering "No". However, if you're asked "have you ever been bankrupt?" you have to say yes, whether you can find your details on a site or not - it's a requirement of your bankruptcy that you do so. I've managed to find bankruptcies for people going back several years, so although you can't find your details, it's conceivable that someone else might have the resources to do so. The Insolvency Service will certainly be able to find your details if they want to. It's best to be honest about these things at the start - better that than be embarrassed later on.

The Insolvency Service's computerised records system started in 1992/1993 and so it will be there. Even if it was before 1993 there is a chance it will show up.0
