Tomorrow I will be buying Elder Scrolls Online, what do you guys think of the game? Been reading some mixed things on it but eager to try it.
I love the other games from ES series, particularly Skyrim.

It was monumentally bugged on PC to the point where after the free month most people decided to allow their subscription to lapse & a year after release it's only now ironed out the majority of bugs. If you're expecting something like Skyrim then you're barking up the wrong tree, it's set in the Elder Scrolls universe but it's much more dependent on the general population.Retired member - fed up with the general tone of the place.0

ESO is not made by the same people that made the single player elder scrolls games (bethesda).0

I'm looking to see if anyone would recommend it based on its game play and enjoyment? I do in general enjoy MMORPGs but I haven't heard many good things about this game in particular.0

I really like it, played it on and off for the last year and now its removed the subscription there is even more of a reason to play it!
It's true it was pretty buggy to start with but most of these have now been fixed and runs a lot better
As for feeling like a ES game (oblivion, skyrim etc...) its as close as you will get for an MMO in my opinion. its a kind of 'watered down' version of skyrim. The elements are there such as combat, customisation of character, some exploring etc... but not quite like you would get in skyrim.
Also, If you are planning to team up with friends then this is where the main problem is, because of the way the game is designed with the phasing system and choices you make and the world/area changing you will find people in your group sometimes vanishing into thin air as they enter a different phase area than you.
Its a shame there is no trial for PC as it is an expensive purchase but said above no more monthly subscription!0 -
I can echo a lot of what David said.
Both my husband and I play.
I beta tested it and loved it, I then bought it but dropped it a month later because a) it was so buggy that I didn't get much done and b) I had a guild thrown at me which meant I spent the time I was online doing guild stuff rather than playing.
I then went back to it a few months before the Buy to Play announcement and fell in love with it all over again, it wasn't perfect but I could play. Found myself a fantastic guild, got into PvP with them, became a vampire (at level 13, it's a level 38 questline - I was so proud). Then the announcement for B2P came and this upset me, I liked the fact it was subscription based and worried about the future of the game.
I took another break, let them do their big update, give it a chance to settle and started playing again this week. I am happy I'm back!
The game runs smoother, the new changes are great and I prefer it over Skyrim because my characters look a hell of a lot better
I am a retired WoW player, I gave up WoW to go back to ESO and I am much happier there. The combat is great, the customisation is probably one of the best I've played and you feel like you are in the game rather than just standing in one place spamming 1,2,3,4,4,4,5,1,2,3,4,4,4,5 (I played a SPriest in WoW). You can be who you want to be. My vampire is a medium armour wearing, bow wielding, sneaky rogue with daggers who will drain the life from you and stab you before you know I'm there0 -
It was horrible on launch for PC, I don't think I've experienced so many bugs in once place before - I've paid the extra bit to move my account over to the Xbox One when it's launched (next month is it?). I paid £60 on launch and thought, what the hell, an extra tenner to try and salvage a game I was looking forward to? Might as well.
It was incredibly buggy, I played it for 2 days and gave up. The biggest killer for me amongst all the bugs, were that the controls on keyboard and mouse felt incredibly awkward. I never felt like I have flexibility in my movement, I had to do one thing and one thing only and couldn't really anticipate my next move like I wanted to. I guess the main thing I'm hoping for is that the controller feels more natural.
Having been a WoW PvPer for nearly 9 years, I was looking for a change. I've been on and off WoW for the last 6 of those years and I'm probably not returning again. Hopefully ESO on console will fill that MMO gap.Professional Data Monkey
