No one is going to tell you what product to buy and sell. If someone knows of a good product they'll keep it to themselves. It would be stupid to tell someone, especially someone on a forum that they don't know.

Plus it's best if you sell something you know about so you can describe it properly and answer any questions on it. Otherwise you could find you get cases against you, negative feedback and low stars because you got something wrong. It won't take long for ebay to stop you selling if that happens.

Also, you would be running a business so you need to do your research properly, register as self employed, declare all earnings and so on. You shouldn't be relying on anyone else to do that for you.

Research research research.Spend time just browsing random completed sales in different categories, see which categories tend to have a high sell through rate and then see if you can source the goods.

Depending on how long ago it was that you sold you might also want to re check the seller fees and rules for business sellers, there are a great many sellers on ebay who are actually making a loss, and just haven't realised it. Make sure your HMRC registration is still live- and that you are set up, if required, to pay NIC.

Also be careful on the amount of stock you buy in to start with. Again depending on when you last sold you may well have restrictions on what you can list, and there's no point holding too much stock if you are limited to say 50 items a month for 3 months.

Despite all of the doom sayers it is still possible to make money on ebay, although I do not consider it an investment- slightly more of a gamble sometimes.

The key to making the right choice for you is time, patience and a fair amount of research. You should have a good idea of what your strengths are (and play to them) and how you can turn that in to money and profit.

I personally wouldn't go down the eBay route, as this marketplace is very tough and with their fees, well .......... Creating your own website with your own products/services with some form of payment gateway would be a better option (in my opinion). The other thing you'd need to do is in figuring out how you're going to drive targeted traffic towards your online business.

All the best with your choice

@lovinituk Ah apologies. I realised it was a bit of a push. Intentions were good, but you're right - a step too far.

But, in response to Flyonthewall :
No one is going to tell you what product to buy and sell. If someone knows of a good product they'll keep it to themselves.

...It does actually happen! If you're after a shortcut, there are ways to find good opportunities without doing lots of work. Otherwise, I'd say you just want to do as much research as possible into what's sold well in the past for other sellers and what stuff is selling quickly.

It's your call whether you'd want to be looking for something that's gonna shift really quickly at a small profit margin, or something that might be slower to sell but has a greater margin when it does actually go.

Another thing to consider if you've got your eye on a product would be what people are saying about it in feedback/reviews. (But being sure to sift out comments about the product, rather than feedback about the seller/experience if you know what I mean). If everyone's had a great time and loves that product, they're more likely to tell a friend, who might then search for it themselves, but finds your listing on there and buys from you instead.

A few things to consider. Good luck!
