    Why would she need a broker?
    Most lenders ask for your last 3 months wage slips
    Now if you change career or are self employed or getting a Big Bonus every 6 months then it could be more complex.
    Is the mortgage application complex? Main wage earner your other half?
    Equity in your property 95%/90%/85%/75%/60%
    Remortgage of existing property or moving home?
    Under the New MMR rules a new lender will be asking LOTS of questions.
    If you have a complex case then you might need a broker.
    PS I did use a broker last year
