Expat mortgage

I'm currently working in the middle east and wanting to buy a bigger house in the UK. Natwest who I bank with at present don't want to know.

Any ideas?

    Did they tell you why?
Depending on the circumstances, they are one of the lenders I would have in mind for something like this.

In short your options are to either ring around or consult a broker to do the legwork for you.

Skipton international might work for you...check out their website for details. If I remember rightly, it's only for btl and if you are employed by a "known" company. Some countries of residence are excluded entirely.

depending on exactly where you are, it might also be worth looking locally at banks that will lend for purchase of a foreign property ie one in the UK.

Usually forex risk warnings apply concerning different currencies earnings, debt, asset location etc.

I'm sure there are UK brokers who can also exist.

    Good luck.

There are so many potential curve balls on this style of case that you need to use an independent broker. As you are out of the Country, one that works remotely.

Is this for a resdiential or Buy to Let? Any family in the property?

Just done an ex pat mortgage for a client in Kuwait. Not easy but managed to get it done. Client had tried themselves for 6 months without success.

As amn says there are so many variables it is best left to a broker.

    Email from Natwest....

Thank you for your quick response

I have now made some further enquires with both NatWest Onshore and NatWest Offshore and unfortunately the Bank can not accept income paid to an account in Qatar from (my employers name) so we will not be able to assist with a mortgage and you will need to seek a specialist lender.
  • Hi :))))

I would hire a broker......fast.....we too are expats and currently applying for a mortgage with natwest through a broker....they know the market and worth every penny!
We used to live in Qatar .....don't miss it at all , we lived near villagio , much happier in Switzerland lol ......good luck

    Hi *******

Unfortunately we are unable to help with your mortgage due to our credit policy and cross border marketing regulations excluding Qatar as one of the countries our offshore team cannot sell with. My apologies for this and the time take to get a definitive decision but I wanted to take it as far as possible before being certain there was nothing we can do. If there is anything else I can help with, please let me know.

    Regards

    *****

A friend of mine (working in Dubai) recently bought a property, he used al rayan bank, believe they are linked with Qatar? Anyway he told me that he has to pay 20% deposit, guess working in ME he could afford to do that :rotfl:.
    Good luck
  • Has anybody used Liquid expat for a mortgage, I live and work in Abu Dhabi, seen a property in the UK, have a 25% deposit, I also send money home each month to my UK bank, I'm finding it hard to find any choice of rates?
