DDs to Tesco saving accounts question

Two Tesco Internet Saver accounts (sole and joint, but this makes no difference).
I just set up a monthly DD from a Baclays account to Tesco 1.
Answered "No" when asked "Do you want us to set up a Direct Debit from this account to all of your accounts?".
Now I see this Barclays account in both "From" drop-down menu for "Move money in" and in "Manage payments" list for this Tesco 1 account.
So far so good.
Now I am trying to set up another DD from the same Barclays account to Tesco 2 account. At the end of the procedure I keep getting: "This account has already been set up". This Barclays account does appear in the drop-down menu, but not in the "Manage payments" list.
Any idea what I am doing wrong? Should I have answered "Yes" to "Do you want us to set up a Direct Debit from this account to all of your accounts?"?
Previously somehow I managed to set two different DDs from the same Lloyds account without any problems.

Anybody?
Come on YorkshireBoy! You are an expert in Tesco DDs and must know the answer!0 -
Sorry grumbler, I've never experienced your issue. I've set up DDs both ways, ie to all accounts and also to individual accounts. My preference these days is to set them up individually as you've attempted, as I'm worried there may be some issue with them qualifying as 'separate' DD mandates.
I have experienced other issues though:
1. Payees set up by Tesco Bank on the phone (years ago) cannot be deleted by me online (it says there's a payment pending but there isn't!).
2. When you switch a current account, ie from Co-op to Nationwide via RAF, the new payee set up at Tesco has the old bank name but the new sort code and account number (very confusing!) and the old details are still retained...meaning you have to be sure to delete the correct one.
In your shoes I'd ring Tesco Bank and let them set it up from their end...but keep an eye open for any anomalies based on what I've said above.0 -
I've encountered many anomalies with Tesco savings account DDs, including:
a DD taken twice (from First Direct in February)
a DD taken from YB Direct in March and April, which was not set up , whereas a DD set up on a Lloyds Vantage account switched to YB Plus, was not taken from YB Plus in March and April.0 -
Sorry, don't know the answer to grumbler's questions. I have roughly a dozen Tesco DDs, incl some that have been switched more than once. Never had any problem yet (famous last words).0

I certainly have. Tried to be smart once….. Set up DDs on old account and used the name of the new account I was switching to as reference. Once switch was complete I had old account sort code / account with new bank name. This was now redundant. New account loaded separately and reference defaulted to Mr B_G_B. This sort of thing is one reason that I send different amounts (rather than a straight £1). I find it easier to track what’s what. Definitely a quirky system, and no answer to Grumblers question. Not complaining though. Fulfills a need well enough.0 -
I think I recall selecting Yes to the 'set up DD from all accounts' question before and at the paying bank I ended up with only 1 mandate which paid to each account, or 2 mandates with the same reference number. Either way I'd suggest not doing it.
Have you tried setting the second mandate for a different day or different amount?0 -

I just set a second DD for a different day. Will see (and report) how two DDs show later in the Barclays account.
Maybe it was an imaginable problem and this was how it should work.0 -

I've always set mine up 'to all accounts' and they've shown as seperate mandates every time (touch wood). Weirdly, the last 2 times I have done this, I have noticed that 3 different mandates are created in the DD section of my current account (not Tesco but the external bank I am setting up the DD with).YorkshireBoy wrote: »Have you not experienced the duplicate payee issue I mentioned above?
I've used Tesco DDs in accounts I was switching and so far, I've not had this issue.0 -
