This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine
Morning all,
Damp here today and looks like its been raining all night, got the wm on the go so will have to hang it on the airer in the conservatory.
Want to try and hoover my car out over the weekend I had the outside cleaned yesterday, its a job I most hate though and dread doing it !
Dinner tonight will be a 'flambe' not its official name just something we call it, puff pastry sheets cooked in the oven with tomato puree and varoious toppings, bit like a pizza, will have it with salad and coleslaw.
Would like to get out for a walk later if the rain holds off for a while and we need to have a good tidy through.
Elona I hope all your girls are home by now and bringing you some comfort, big hugs to you all xx
Have good days all xx

Morning All
Where is everyone? Slow start for me, been up since 7 but just 'pottering'.
It rained last night for the first time in 10 days so I haven't had to water my veggies, hope they survive the next week or so as it is to be cold, snow forecast for Monday!
Anyway, washing is on the line as it is quite bright at the moment, going to walk down to Ald! for supplies, trying not to use the car as it is making a clanking sound, have booked it in for Wednesday and have to hope it lasts till then - not good considering I have only had it for about 6 weeks!
I lit my new stove last night so we were nice and cosy, lovely on a chilly wet night.
Left over pasta sauce tonight, may put some meatballs in and have with spaghetti.
Hugs to all in need, thinking of you particularly Elona. Take care and have a good weekend. XX0 -

elona So sorry to read your news. Thinking of you and your family xx
Back to basics with Scampi's walks – he improves for a few days then ends up worse than before. Yesterday was a nightmare and I couldn't wait to get home. Not helped by people - complete strangers who come bounding over to 'help' - saying I should use a choke chain (no no no) or hit his nose (absolutely not). If you're such an expert, you'd know NOT to wind a dog up even more by thundering towards him in the first place  I may be new to all this but even I know that *sigh* This morning's walk was much better.
It's much cooler today. I have some washing to go out, there's a good breeze so it should dry quite quickly. Just a quick tidy up then I'm having the rest of the day off, I can't be bothered with anything today.
A large glass of wine was downed in approx. three seconds last night – might open a new bottle later

Morning all,
Hope your girls are with you Elona.
Had some rain here first thing but sun is out. Took a chance and put washing in and will peg out later.
It's three weeks to DD's Wedding and at last everything has fallen into place and is arranged. Just have the balance of the cars to pay for now.
Is anyone on here from Edinburgh? Particularly the Stockbridge area as that is where we are staying and I am looking for recommendations for a salon to have my shellac/gel nails done within walking distance.
Got some quick fry steak for dinner with mash and veg.
Happy Saturday all

Afternoon everyone.
I was up and out of the house by 7.30am in in Glasgow by just after 9.00am. Roads very quiet that early as were the shops. Just wanted a couple of things from JL and nothing else. Only got two of my 'wants' and one substitute so all was not lost.
Sun is bright, wind is cold and I'm glad to be home. Did a big wash yesterday and it dried overnight in front of the dying fire embers. Apart from the wash I didn't do much yesterday apart from being a witness to the signing of some legal papers for a friend.
I did want to go to the tip with a huge amount of plastic, cardboard and assorted other junk...will wait til Tuesday now when I'm going into town anyway.
Got a couple of TV programmes to catch up on and a book half read. That will be my day.
Still got Elona and family in my thoughts.0 -
Just got back from the hospital and DH was sitting back in the bed in the new pyjamas I bought, had a little lunch and a small drink.
He also seemed less exhausted and confused and coped well with all six of us taking it in turns to see him.
Older DD has waited at hospital to talk to one of the doctors and get a better idea of prognosis so will see how that went.
Got steak and salad for tonight and a chicken with lemon and garlic for tomorrow and feel shattered but a bit less panicky.

Afternoon all - very quiet on here today, where is everybody?
Big moan coming up next! I never got online this morning as we had a bit of a drama last night. DS rang to see if there was a bed free as more trouble with the GF. She will never change and I worry about him stuck in that relationship. He's 40 next month but he'll always be my little boy and I don't like to see him so down in the dumps. She stopped taking her anti-depressants about 3 weeks ago (without doctors consent) and has been harder work than normal. He did a 10 hour shift at work and walked in the door at 9.30 p.m. last night to be greeted with a load of abuse and accusing him of having an affair as she wasn't expecting him so late!! I despair of her and just wish he could see there's no future in it. He feels responsible for the 2 boys (not his) and says he doesn't want to just abandon them.
Anyway he went back at lunchtime to try and get her to talk rationally and agree to go to the doctors with him, so he could tell it like it is and explain just what she is like. I don't have much hope really.
Well moan over, just wanted to get it off my chest. Hope everyone is having a good day and sending ((((((((BIG HUGS))))) to ELONA and family. I hope you manage to get the proper facts today as I know how difficult it is to take in bad news the first time they tell you.
Take care all xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
ELONA that is good that DH is a little stronger, and hopefully when DD arrives home you might have some answers, I hope so
Much love

ELONA so nice to see your post and so nice to hear that Mr.E is sitting up and 'compus mentus' today. Hope that DD will have sensible news of the prognosis from the doctors and that you can come down off the ceiling and stop being on edge. Hope you sleep better tonight pet, thinking of you all, Love Lyn xxx.0
