Hi all. Any advice appreciated re: the below scenario.
Myself and my partner currently own our home (mortgaged). Value is approx 270k. Mortgage approx 170k.
We have approx 15k of debt built up over past 3 years from unemployment/child etc.
We are both employed now and have been for 2 years. Total income combined 42K.
My partner had a very good credit score with no missed payments.
I have an average credit score with some late payments but no defaults or anything like that.
Our question is - we would like to move house, but do t know what our best option is. We would like to pay off our debt from our equity. Would we be best to sell first, pay off debt, then seek out new property and apply for new mortgage with clear debt history? We would then free up the chain at our end also.
What is the likelihood of being accepted with my missed payments....and are we looking at 4x joint salary only?
Thanks all.
