Hi all,
Taking our first steps to property ownership having rented for a long time. Been going ok so far, but it is a slow process, well for us anyway.
We have been going through L&C and have had a DIP from Post Office / Bank Of Ireland, Mortgage company have all documents, (although they have just asked for mine and OH employers details ie address and phone numbers......again...even though they are on my contract and payslips...???)
Fast forward a little and today is Survey day:j
Hope it goes ok, don't expect much to come back, maybe a little mould on a window lintel and in a corner of a bedroom. Skirting boards missing on landing. (I think the owners have lost interest and enthusiasm)
Having had a DIP, a survey about to complete, and no further document requests, do you think this is a good sign? From your experience do you think we will be approved and be given an offer on this basis?
Starting to get a bit worried, doesn't do much for the blood pressure
Thanks for reading.

I received an offer from the Post Office not long after the valuation was carried out.Slummy mummy!0

Thanks for that.
With us at this stage, does that mean the underwriters have already done their bit and we are just waiting for the offer, providing the survey is OK?Debt free Nov 11 :j0 -
we are in the same boat as you.
survey was yesterday and going through L&C with post office.
how are you finding l&c? getting someone on the phone is impossible and emails take atleast a day to get a replay, our mortgage adviser was great but the case worker... not so much!0 -
Much the same as yourself. Case manager doesn't answer his phone, but does respond fairly quickly to emails. So I know he is in. I will be filling in their customer satisfaction survey when the time comes.Debt free Nov 11 :j0

Hello,
This sounds like a similar situation to us as we're using L and C and going through the Post Office.
Can I ask how you were notified about the survey taking place and how long it took for it to be arranged?
The money came out of my bank early last week and we got a letter from the surveyor last Friday saying that they were arranging the appointment, but nothing since.0 -
I kept phoning the mortgage advisor, much more helpful. The company who carried out the survey phoned me and said when the survey was arranged for. Double checked with the Estate agents. Took a while to be booked even though they had my money, about 2-3 weeks. Hope the results don't take as long otherwise there will be some strongly worded emails and phonecalls.Debt free Nov 11 :j0

That's useful to know, thanks. I've emailed the surveyor and my case manager. I was asked today by my case manager if I had sent the lender the structural survey but I don't have one! I asked if that was to do with the survey because I haven't heard anything about it yet and asked if he knew if it had been booked.
He then replied to say he'd requested a copy of the valuation report which has left me confused as to what has taken place. They have all our other documents which were requested and this is what we're waiting on.0 -
Surveyors just called, all OK, some bits and pieces but nothing too worrying. Valuation good as well. Should hopefully know next week if we are offered the mortgage. Fingers crossed.Debt free Nov 11 :j0

Ah good luck! I got an email to say I'll have my report by Monday so hopefully no major issues! Just glad it's been done so quickly!0

Now that the survey is done and hasn't picked up anything show stopping, and the valuation is fine, what are peoples opinions on us being offered the mortgage we have asked for having got to this stage?Debt free Nov 11 :j0
